I Need Your Help Again Everybody!
A big shout out and thanks to everyone who contributed to last week's list of all the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Things About Being Gay.
Flip side. Now, everyone please chime in with all the things you think are GREAT about being gay. I know everyone has individual stories and I love hearing those. This time I'm looking for generalities. Reasons It's Great To Be Gay that apply to most if not all. Thinking caps back on, kids, only this round should be a lot more fun. Ready, set, go!

* All my life I was taught that Honesty and Integrity were the most important characteristics, coming out allowed myself to be honest with myself!
* I have found who my true friends are who stand by me regardless of any differences we might have.
* I have met a whole community of people whom I can relate to for once in my life.
* I have been able to help others who are struggling and who have thought about killing themselves, come back from the edge.
-Can have closer relationships with women because they don't have to be guarded, wondering if you're really trying to get into their pants.
-Can have closer relationships with men because men relate to other men and feel more comfortable talking with you about "emotional" and "personal" stuff because you're not a woman and they can let down the machismo act.
-Able to be more free with fashion and clothing because you don't have to worry about gender stereotypes.
-Instant camaraderie and often rapid friendship with other queers
-No accidental pregnancy
Although I've never eaten at Hooters - if I ever do, trust me, I'll only be there for the wings
Jay Leno once said "A new study shows that women prefer men with feminine characteristics." (Although, he went on to say "The bad news: Men with feminine characteristics ... also prefer men with feminine characteristics.")
All flippancy aside, gay men are generally just more interesting than straight men.
btw, for all of us gay bois - here is a link to Hooters Calendar 2009.
I usually stay away from stereotypes (I'm sure you of all people know what I mean!), but since you're apparently looking for generalities, here are a few: We're stylish, musical, artistic, and skilled in cooking and acting. (Plus, girls finally have guys who will happily go shopping or to the opera with them!) What's not to love about being fabulous?!
Sorry, took me so long to think of something positive. All I can come up with is that it means that I get to be me. I guess that's not half bad.
